Loved this movie. One of the best romantic comedies ever made. Which might be strange coming from a guy, but what can I tell you, I thought this movie was really good. I'm not a big fan of Katherine Heigl but she was really good, maybe her best role. And James Marsden was very cool. It was nice seeing him in something other than comic book movies (X-Men, Superman Returns). The basic plot has our girl Jane (Heigl) forever a bridesmaid and never a bride until she finally admits she is in love with her boss (Edward Burns). But before she can tell him her wacky sister Tess (played by Malin Ackerman) makes a move on him first. And before you know they're planning for a wedding. Along comes Kevin (Mardsen) who is secretly doing a story on Jane for his newspaper. This being a romantic comedy, you can pretty much see how this will all play out. But it's still fun watching it unfold. Funny and romantic. Oh and Judy Greer is freaking hilarious as Casey, Jane's best friend. She gets all the good lines.

A single woman that skims the wedding announcements of the paper so she can befriend the bride and be in the wedding? I think this movie could've been better if Katherine Heigl and the person that played her sister put a little more emotion into the acting.

this movie was horrible. I know that there will be so many women out there doing the whole "it was so sweet, it was such a cute love story."

well BLAH. This movie sucked, and you could predict the turn out of the WHOLE ENTIRE THING less then 10 minutes in.

At this point in my life, I've seen so many romantic comedies that have basically the same premise that it's pretty easy to come up with a formula for each one. 27 Dresses = 5 parts "The Wedding Planner" + 2 parts "In Her Shoes," + one part "How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days."
I'm not saying that it wasn't entertaining, but I would have liked it more if it had been a little more original and less predictable.

This movie was cute, but pretty run of the mill as far as romantic comedies go. Worth a watch but not memorable enough to add to my collection. I have liked Katharine Heigl and James Marsden in most of what I've seen and had somewhat high expectations for it so perhaps it just couldn't live up to them. It was a decent date night film though.

I thought that 27 dresses was one of my favorite movies of 2008 so far and will still be at the end of the year. I think that 27 dresses was very cute, smart, and funny. The story was good and the acting was pretty good as well. The direction of this movie was great. The movie was trying to tell you that lies will not get you any places in life and which you do find out in this movie. I thought that Katherine Heigl did a great job playing Jane a brides maid her whole entire life and never a bride. She finally falls for a guy that her sister ends up turning out to date. Then she meets a different guy and thats where I will stop because I don't want to spoil anything. she also takes care of people her whole life preparing for peoples weddings and stuff like that and never knowing when to say no. I loved this movie and thought that it was different in a better way from other movies. When I went to go see this movie today I wasn't expecting a lot out of it but it gave me a lot which was very nice. I ended up loving this movie and think that any teenage girls would also love this movie to. Go see it, its a great movie I promise.

This movie was silly, and not in an endearing way. Heigl really took it down a notch when she went from Knocked Up to this. Then again, she was kind of just "there" in that movie. Anyway back to 27 Dresses - I giggled a few times I guess. My favorite scene was when they were singing Elton John in the bar, only because that was always my favorite song growing up & It'd probably be really fun to yell-sing drunk in a bar.

Katherine Heigl makes an excellent performance as the "always a bridesmaid, not the bride" in this fabulous romantic-comedy movie. This is familiar to My Best Friend's Wedding in the story between Jane (Heigl), her sister Tess (Malin Akerman) and her boss George (Edward Burns) that sets up a dysfunctional love triangle.

''Love is patient, love is kind, love is slowly going out of your mind''

After serving as a bridesmaid 27 times, a young woman wrestles with the idea of standing by her sister's side as her sibling marries the man she's secretly in love with.

    Katherine Heigl: Jane

27 Dresses sees Katherine Heigl plays Jane, a woman who just loves going to weddings, being a bridesmaid for her friends and in most instances being the person to go to when it comes to making wedding arrangements. We find out quickly that Jane's fascination and penchant for helping with weddings came about soon after her mother died when as a very young child she helped her sister find a bathroom, fix her hair, and used a bow in her sister's hair to repair the bride's wedding dress. When we catch up with Jane as an adult, it turns out that she is a bridesmaid at two different weddings on the same night, requiring her to hire a taxi for the evening and to shuttle back and forth between the two receptions changing in and out of the different bridesmaid dresses while riding in the back seat.

27 Dresses presents many dilemmas and interesting scenarios, not to mention burning questions that need answering like will George and Tess get married? Or will George realize that Jane is the girl for him? Will Kevin be the one to actually fall for Tess? Or does he only have eyes for Jane? Will Kevin write the story about Jane's 27 appearances as a bridesmaid? And will it be published about the time his cynicism might be turning to love? Will George discover that Tess isn't all she is cracked up to be and turn to Jane for comfort? Will Jane finally tire of being a bridesmaid and wedding planner all rolled into one? There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that you'll be able to answer all of those above questions by the time 27 Dresses has completed about a fourth of its 107 minutes of running time. But chances are it won't matter to you one bit that the film is so obviously predictable, just as most of the films in the romance genre usually are. You'll enjoy it anyway thanks to another strong performance by Katherine Heigl.

It's one thing to star in a film of this sort and to get a few laughs with some well written snappy dialog, but Heigl manages to go beyond that. She has this wonderful ability to draw the audience into her character. You can readily identify with her, laugh with her, cry for her, be embarrassed for her, and to feel as sad and lonely as she seems to be in the early part of this movie. We cheer her when she finally does take a stance, but we feel her remorse for having done so when it backfires to some extent. There are only a handful of actresses who can manage all of that, and do it all in one film.

The supporting cast in this film aren't exactly bad either. Malin Akerman does a great job of making Tess the evil obnoxious sister that you'll love to hate. James Marsden manages to somehow make his character believable as someone who is suppose to be a jerk on the outside, but yet gives indications that there is more to Kevin than meets the eye. But best of the supporting players is Judy Greer as Jane's best friend Casey. She has at least three of the films funniest including doing her best to literally knock some sense into Jane at one point.

The defining aspect to 27 Dresses is that most romantic comedies are on a predictable wave length. They are only successful when they have a good but novel strain of topic to make topic interesting and when the script has enough witty dialogue and is able to touch your heart it makes it worth our while. (Got to watch that Bar Scene again, Benny and the jets) But most importantly, the actors have to make you care about them and their romantic dilemma, and to feel the same ranges of emotions that they are feeling on the screen. And thanks in large doses to another fine performance by Katherine Heigl, 27 dresses certainly succeeds and shines.

This was a predictable chick flick right from the beginning... It was fun and silly in a "time to grow up" or "welcome to the REAL world" kind of way that makes you hope she figures it all out by the end... while overlooking the "high schoolishness" about it.

It was a) cute, b) fun, c) romantic, and d) had a happy ending.

3 1/4 stars because altho I enjoyed it, there was something about the movie that made it feel soooooo, hmmmmm.... unprofessionally done? I don't know - just didn't get a whole lot of excitement about it, and some of the acting was verging on being "sub par". I'd watch it again, but would only think about buying it off the $5 rack.

    ::sighs::
Why do they keep making these chick flicks that are all so similar??? It's so painful... usually. Don't tell anybody, but I actually kind of enjoyed this one.

Ok, so we all know going into this romantic film that there was going to be nothing groundbreaking and nothing we probably haven't seen before. It's predictable, unoriginal, and cheesy but yet so much more entertaining than others in its genre. I think it has to do with the fact that James Marsden is more edgy and cool than say Jude Law or Mark Ruffalo.

Girls will find it sweet and emotional, and guys can get engaged enough to follow it to the end.

So if it's your girl's night to pick a movie and shoves 5 sappy chick flicks in your face, feel comfortable picking this one. It's not so bad.
