All the hype and anticipation over this movie fortunately wasn?t hollow, and it delivered bigger and more realistic action sequences than expected, but under this movies iron suit of action and CGI is a beating heart filled with romance and humor. and the best person to fill this suit is Robert Downey JR who alone is enough to send this film soaring

Pretty cool movie for a geek like me. The movie will not be remembered as something especiall, it is too much like batman/spiderman/etc.

Iron Man certainly has a lot to live up to: Not only is it the first film of the summer blockbuster season, it has a pedigree of great films that Marvel has spawned (including Spider-Man, X-Men, and Blade II) to live up to. Iron Man exceeds expectations and more, becoming the best Marvel comics film since Spider-Man 2.

Robert Downey Jr. is pitch perfect as Tony Stark, an industrialist who owns Stark Enterprises, a weapons manufacturer for the U.S. Army. During a test run of a new prototype, a convoy holding Mr. Stark is attacked and he is taken captive by the terrorist cell the "Ten Rings"(a subtle wink to Iron Man aficionados), who order him to rebuild the prototype missile. Later on he manages to escape, of course, compelling him to use his new design to protect the people.

Everyone in the cast is perfect, even Gwyneth Paltrow, sadly miscast as Pepper Potts, Tony's assistant and love interest. She doesn't do a bad job, but shes obviously out of her element. Other cast members fare a bit better, especially Jeff Bridges, who brings a cool menace as Obadiah Stane, although Terrence Howard could have been used more. Jon Favreau has done really good job, as he skillfully brings together all the elements (action comedy drama) like a master storyteller. The film moves feverishly, never missing a beat as everything is handled superbly by Favreau, leaving you wanting more of it.

By the explosive end (and trust me you'll be on the edge of your seat in the climax) you have just seen one of the best comic book movies ever, and quite possibly the best of the year(theres a reason it holds a 93% fresh rating on RottenTomatoes.com). The special effects are amazing, flawlessly done with no hiccups at all. Be sure to stick around after the credits to get a special treat that showcases just what Marvel is planning for the future. An exciting action romp from beginning to end, Iron Man is definitely one of the hopefully many crowdpleasers of the year. Future films (either in this franchise or future Marvel films) hopefully take what they learned from Iron Man and sustain this level of quality. Highly recommended.

Quite possibly my favorite movie of the summer of 2008. As close to as true tot he mythos that is Iron Man as it possibly could be. Tony Stark is an icon for the modern age and a hero, not for powers from outer space, but for his mind. It had me hooked from the first frame until the end. I'm actually looking forward to a sequel.

Okay. I'm a huge comic fan. we're just fresh off of Civil War, a Marvel event which turned much of the comic community (including me) against Tony Stark. However, the perfect casting and execution of this movie turned me right back around. An AMAZINGLY well done comic adaptation.

Awesome. I haven't felt like this since Transformers last summer. These high tech movies are truly blockbusters and mindblowers. Iron is officially my favorite Marvel's hero right now.

I wasn't excited when this came out but I'm really glad I got to see it! It was quite a good film with some funny moments and Robert Downey Jr is starting to turn around for me... I did start to dislike him, but I still don't think it's THAT great a film though... The only Marvel film that I've loved is Spiderman all the rest can go get.... SHIZZLED

This was a very good marvel movie from start til end. Robert Downey JR fits perfect as the cool Iron Man and thats one thing that make this flick interesting. There are much nice action scenes altho not quite as much as in transformers but i was satisfied. The soundtrack had its great moments aswell time to time. A plus for a good movie length also. There isn't much negative to say about this movie so if you are into great action movies you don't have to look any further. Its not the best of the marvel world but up there with the big ones. Enjoy

This movie was so good and i'm not just saying that. This movie was huge success at the box office and with fans (like me) It was a superhero movie that was made just the right way. ALso this movie was excellent in boosting Robert Downey jr's career because in the movie he was Tony Stark, he was IRON MAN

Best movie of 2008 so far, Batman is a close second just because of Heath Ledger's amazing performance.

I never expected less but usually my expectations for films are crashed to pieces when I actually see the movies .. but not this one .. a little slow in the beginning but it had it compensated pretty fast .. and it was funny too .. It's definitely this summers hit

This movie was all I expected and more.

In my honest opinion, this is the best superhero movie right after Spider-Man. Seriously. The only thing about it that bothers me is the ending; yeah, y'all know what I'm talking about. *MAJOR spoiler if you have not seen it yet* Why, *why* did they have him tell the entire world he is Iron Man? I just don't like it one bit.

But anyway, it is a seriously awesome movie. As soon as I get the DVD, I will watch that one scene where he goes to the Middle East and kicks ass over and over and over again. That scene . . . that scene was the most awesome action scene I've ever seen. Ever. Ever!

*Yet another MAJOR spoiler* And don't even get me started on that scene that came after the credits. I pretty much shrieked and fainted when I saw that scene. I mean, seriously, I was all like "Dude. DUDE! Avengers! DUDE! Nick Fury! DUUUUUDE!"

    . . . . . yeah.

    Pretty freakin' awesome movie.

Oh my god what a movie! Love the fact that they made it a bit up-beat instead of really dark and ominous (like Batman - but hey, I don't complain about that either. It's just nice to see something else.) Robert Downey Jr. is great as Iron Man. Will have to watch it again. And again. And again.

Quite the summer for comic movies. This was a pretty good movie. Downey Jr. gave a solid performance as Tony Stark. This movie entertained and turned out to be better than I expected. I haven't had my hopes up with the comic book adaptiations lately with the failures of Ghost Rider, and the Punisher. Looking forward to the next installment.

Robert Downey Jr. was great as usual and it was certainly better than a lot of other comic book adaptations, but nothing really blew me away about it.

Set aside the special effects, rockin soundtrack, and decent action... and you still have a great movie. It's all about Tony Stark. Never a more intriguing and fun character since Juno.

one of the best superhero movies i've ever seen. Robert brings more depth to the character, some young cutie would have been too easy a choice.

It seems kind of odd that the female-rating thing is 3.5, and the male one is 4, while the total is 4.5...
That is rather curious, I think.
