Gerard Butler Talks "300" Follow-Up

Back in June, Legendary Pictures confirmed development of a "300" follow-up for Warner Bros that Frank Miller is writing and Zack Snyder would possibly direct.

"The vision of Frank Miller's universe that Zack Snyder brought to the screen in '300' is unlike anything ever seen before," Legendary head Thomas Tull said. "We want to be certain that the story originates with Frank and be as compelling as the first."

Now, during the Toronto Film Festival, Gerard Butler revealed that he hasn't heard of any sequel or prequel to "300" and finds a second installment a bit unnecessary.

"I've heard some backroom chatter, but nothing more, so I don't know if it would be a sequel or a prequel," said Butler to SuperheroHype. "I don't want say anymore than that, because I really don't know. I haven't read anything. I can't see it myself -- sequel for me absolutely not, but I just mean the idea generally, I'm really not sure which way they would go with that."

I loved the 300 graphic novel. Frank Millar is one of the best comic book writers ever. Though, I absoloutely hated the movie. It was so stupid...they took all of the bad things out of the novel.

This is going to be a hard one for the writers. The Spartans eventually died out and I’m not sure about what happened before. One thing I do know which they left out of the movie, any Spartan soldier alive at the end of a battle would be killed for being a coward, I know, WTF? But anyway, I’m interested in seeing what way they will go with this!
