Brilliant start, brilliant ending some lax moments at the middle. The background score really let down the movie. I felt it would have been a masterpiece if shortened and music was used more judiciously. Its definitely a must watch, but for me it hasn't reached that level of 'Satyajit Ray" films because of the length and background music.

This film has a meditative approach to story telling that allows the story to unfold without explication. It is an excellent, timeless story performed with restraint. There are only a few minor clues to date the film. The characters are complicated and compelling. The pace, low key acting, and documentary quality (yet beautiful) cinematography lend authenticity to the drama.
