This is a good movie. A lot to show in the time slot. However, Salman Khan and others did a good job to tell many stories which actually have taken place in the lives of thousands upon thousands of people impacted by the partition and as immigrants. The emotions are carried well and do hit the heart. I think Salman Khan successfully showed that he can wear many hats at once and carry them well. It is very sad to think about how many people struggled during this era and thereafter. People did die. People did sacrifice. People did separate. Young men left home to earn a living. Women stayed home and carried the weight of maintaining every other challenge at home. Granted as a bollywood movie there will be some over the tops scenes, but, each time we watch this movie, we are definitely left in tears in many parts.

While the film's 2nd half may be slow and some humor may sound illogical with some unnecessary action scenes towards the end. The film still entertains while telling an emotional story and features some surprisingly good performances.

I am not sure why this movie is getting such bad reviews. I watched it with a few friends and it was one of the best movies I have ever seen. It takes you on a journey with a man who lives through tragedy, change and enlightenment. It is a very deep movie, with many themes and tones that high school students will write about in 20 years, replacing William Shakespeare literature. This is an Oscar-worthy performance from the lead actor, Salman Khan, who plays a version of himself in an alternate reality. As the name of the movie suggests, Salman is the embodiment of India or Bharat, and his actions represent the soul of the country. If you do not much about Indian history and want an accurate depiction of culture, you can skip all history books and watch this movie. It will make you cry, laugh and feel confused where we least expect it. 5 stars for this masterpiece and an extra star for Salman.

Like most Bollywood movies, this was probably conceived over a cup of coffee by the producers. All the masala required for a popular movie has been used: action, emotion drama. The only thing missing is a gripping story. When Salman keeps changing his jobs one after the other, you have the same feeling that you have when you hear a very young kid just making up a long story impromptu. There is poor acting all around. Katrina is the worst of them all. I wonder how Salman could think of a national award for Katrina for her acting in this film. Okay, I guess it's because of the benchmarks in Bollywood.

An average film in which Salman Khan didn't do any justice to his role. His acting was disappointing. The concept, inspired from the Korean Film Ode To My Father, was alright, but the screenplay was really bad. Too much logicless and predictable sequences. Sunil Grover and Katrina Kaif did well. Overall this neither has the class of films like Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Sultan nor does the emotions flow like PRDP. It is one time watch with a lot of boring sequences.
