This is a compelling drama, with touching relationships that develop as the story unfolds. The white saviour idea seems off to me, as this isn't something that shows. The themes of hope and forgiveness seem more compelling, An honest telling of a true story, with more to it than just telling an age old tale of oppression and violence

Hedlund was new to me and he nailed the role of a klansman who had his eyes opened to racism in the late 90s. True story of the Echo Theater turned into a Redneck store in SC.

The story is worthy but the script is woeful.

Ugh! These critics! Yes, we've seen this kind of story before, but I didn't see it as a white savior story at all. The savior is the reverend, whose deep faith and commitment to love and prayer gives this film an ending that we have to remember is a TRUE STORY. It's a compelling reminder, especially watching it in 2022, that the Klan is as vicious as it's ever been. The only way one finds love in the Klan is if you agree to hate, and it will turn on you fast if you ever dare to walk a more loving and tolerant path. The film does a great job of showing just how difficult and complex a job it is to bring someone out of that mindset. It's so difficult, in fact, that I have real worries for the future of the U.S.

It's a christian movie with the message being that only by being a believer in a sky zombie can you change your life for the better. Hmm. Personally I don't know any christians as the country I'm from isn't that hypocritical and stupid.

A decent telling of this true story. It's nice that love & kindness can overcome the ignorance and hatred of racism occassionally.

This movie does an excellent job of telling multiple sides of this story, which is inspired by two men – a black church and community leader and a white KKK member – and how their connection to each other as well as relationships with others changes things. Difficult subject matter at times, but an important topic and strong acting performances by all. Gritty and real.

This drama was really good. Garrett Hedlund, Forest Whitaker, Andrea Riseborough, Tom Wilkinson, Usher, and the rest of the cast did a great job in this movie. This true story about a former KKK member was dark, dramatic, and emotional. It's about discovering what's really important in life and what you need to do in order to redeem yourself for all the sins you've committed against innocent people. If you haven't seen this movie yet, check it out sometime. It's worth watching.
