Halloween Party

Despite being able to see the narrative beats coming a reel or two away, there's something about this film that compels the viewer to stick with it, and it does some very provocative things with its reveals.

A no-budget Canadian thriller that comes oh-so-close to being the "Little Horror Engine that Could."

Halloween Party is a horror movie that bit off more than it could chew ... Most of the movie's acting is so bad, it's more cringe-inducing than the movie's intended scares.

Look, Halloween Party is not scary, and as a horror movie, that is a problem. But, the characters are engaging and fun, brought to life by a wonderful cast.

Halloween Party has a lot going for it: some great dialogue, insane ideas (vagina spiders folks), and some genuinely likeable lead characters.

With its characters who, after encountering a strange meme, must race the clock against their own impending doom, Halloween Party marries the fatalistic tensions of Ring to the amiable student banter that Dahl had already honed in There Are Monsters.
