Excellent! Perfect movie for the family on Thanksgiving or whenever. Will is fantastic as always and Ann Marie is a force - love them both and their chemistry. The young lady that played Venus was outstanding as were the other young actresses and supporting cast. You will laugh, cheer and cry! Must see!!

Numerous aspects on how to be a great parent and coach. I believe.

A real cornball. Find something else to do. Nothing like the real girls.

I was skeptical going into this movie "about" Venus and Serena Williams given that it's actually about their father, Richard, but learning that the women were producers of the film and this is the story they wanted to tell, I was pretty excited about it. First off, the cast is amazing in every way. Will Smith obviously stands out and gives a truly Oscar-worthy performance. It was very refreshing to see his character unashamedly be himself and stand up for what he believes, even if the audience can see the flaws in his logic. Both Saniyya Sidney and Demi Singleton are amazing as Venus and Serena, respectively, especially for their age. Their performances are mature and nuanced in a way that many actors their age lack. The writing, following the true story of the Williams family, also gives a lot of nuance with its depth of characters. I love how it was able to show Richard as both a coach and a father at the same time. Likewise, it allowed the children to be champions of their craft while still acting like children. The humor works well and the touching moments are there, although they occasionally verge on overly sappy (mostly because there seems to be a lot of crying which felt a little forced). The movie felt a little long and some scenes seem to drag on, but it wraps up in a satisfying way by celebrating the amazing achievements of this family without overly romanticizing the life they've led. A unique biopic with a relatable and (at times frustratingly) stubborn lead, King Richard is a great watch.
