Dizzying, technical tour-de-force early Ophuls. This is foot-to-the-floor high drama that is massively enjoyable to watch.

I loved this film. I'm not quite sure what the frame narrative added to the film since the framing was rather short and seemingly unimportant except in showing that Gaby turned out just like all of the men who had loved her.
