I don't really have an issue with the schmaltzy Hallmark movie of the week aesthetic but this whole thing is centered around a twist so baffling and awful that it never recovers once it is revealed.

The whole movie depended on one mild twist which was 'meh'. The whole cliche around that 1 line from Wham song strangled the movie itself.

This has a lot of heart and just about manages to stay away from cheesiness. The lead actors are all terrific, special mention for Emma Thompson.

This movie was marketed as a cute Christmas rom com, but not only was it not funny, it didn't end up being romantic in the end. No one wants to watch a movie with a twist that entirely undoes the entire plot development and renders the whole movie useless. I think if the movie was marketed as a drama it would've landed better with audiences. The main character isnt very likeable but you root for them to end up together anyway. The acting here is fine, and Emilia truly carries the plot. However, it's the plot that's the problem. They could've built up to the twist in a way that made more sense rather than trying to make it a surprise, which backfired because it made the twist seem slapped on haphazardly as if it were an afterthought. It was like two different people wrote this movie. If you want to watch a feel-good Christmas movie that doesn't make you feel like you're wasting your time, this isn't it. And it's certainly got nothing to do with the George Michael or Wham! song it aims to reach audiences with lol it's such a stretch to find any relevance with the title.

Relaxing movie for a pleasantly spent Christmas time on your couch.

Worst Christmas movie I've ever seen.

Thankfully we resisted the urge to walk out about 20 minutes into the movie, but it was Christmas and we were on holiday. Not withstanding the intentionally dreadful performances by some leading stars??? this film is now our go to film for a smile and a few tears. Emily is such a wonderful actor. Just don't take the film tooooo literal. Just sit back and enjoy it.

102 minutes that I'll never get back. The humour might work in Islington but it doesn't travel North. Cheesy in the extreme. The music of George Michael and Wham could have been put to far better use to produce an epic Christmas film.
