Not as bad as people say. Not every movie is the Godfather.

This is an understated and underrated pop film that deserves the more positive attention it's now getting on streaming. That it's focused on pyschology and female characters may explain the poor theatrical reception although marketing seems to have been a factor also. An intriguing and refreshing segue away from the standard superhero and superheroine fare, for sure.

Is it special, something we've never seen before? By no means! But it's way better than its 11% suggests. At least its decently written and touches up on a Spiderman character not touched on yet. I say it's at least worth one watch.

Makes you want a Pepsi. In the current age of audiences being spread across streaming services—all with their own pile of garbage films—some have worried it meant the death of mainstream trash movies enjoyed ironically by the masses. Rest assured the legacy of so-bad-it’s-good films lives on with one of the most studio-driven movies of all time and her name is “Madame Web”! Perhaps the early 2000s setting is an homage to the Marvel movies from that era which often felt equally confused on how to adapt the source material. Aloof queen Dakota Johnson’s web really does connect them all, as her protégé trio all embody the lost line reading style that she owns. Together, they take on a villain with the superpower of being able to deliver dialogue in post-production.

Genuinely a disservice to Spider-Man and the greater marvel universe. Thankfully not really canon to any of our boys we’ve actually seen on the big screen. Would not like to see the live action spider-men mess around with this without some serious reworking of the plot.
