I have no idea why this movie exists. It feels like it was 4 hours long, cut down to just over 2 by getting rid of all the transitional, story and character scenes. It just jumps from one historical detail to the next, to the next, to the next and provides virtually no perspective or context.

Just watched it on Amazon a Prime...better than any of the Academy Award nominated films I saw this year....Apparently it was too pro American for the RT critics.

Beautiful story boringly told. With such a fantastic cast, it's a shame the screenplay has to be so dull and drawn out. Scenes meant to be climactic fell flat, leaving me wondering why I didn't just watch Pearl Harbor.

Excellent and heartfelt movie faithfully re-creating a turning point in US history and the heroes that made it happen.

If you're dad got a blank check to bring his Jingoistic Mary Sue fanfiction to life, that's this movie.

Nice explosions, shame about the characters and the dialogue, but Midway isn't a movie that you see for the characters and the dialogue. In fact too much time was spent on drab characters and their clunky dialogue, come to think of it. More explosions please!

Overall the film carries a sort of cartoonish aesthetic—cartoonish in the way the film 300 was. The actor playing Richard Best only adds to the cartoonish feel with his overwrought yankee accent. Also, I can't imagine a WW2 film set in Europe putting a dedication at the end to the brave American AND GERMAN soldiers so making that dedication to the Japanese ignores the atrocities the Japanese Empire is responsible for in a way that, rightly so, would never be ignored of the Germans.

This might just be a rare best from Roland Emmerich who normally makes trashy epics with poor script and lousy SFX. Enough thrills and not too many corny heroic speeches at least!

Did this movie get buried? Because I can't remember seeing any advertisements/trailers for this movie when/if it was in theaters. This movie should get another release in theaters but this time with the appropriate amount of advertisement just as any other blockbuster movie would get. This movie has great action throughout with no lengthy slow periods anywhere--which I appreciate in a war movie(or really any movie). Excellent film to watch to gain a wealth of incredible and accurate information regarding the events leading up to and including the battle of Midway. It should leave every American with a sense of awe and extreme respect for the courage and valor of those involved with the battles and operations from WWII featured in this movie. WATCH IT--with family members and friends as young as middle school. There is a fair amount of swearing in this film and some very intense scenes involving death and gruesome injuries that are depicted but all of this is included to portray an accurate unfiltered depiction of the realities of the Pacific Theater during WWII.

Cool action. Not a fan of the events that followed.
