Primal

It's more brutal than thrilling... I think the plot summary is probably the most tongue-in-cheek about the way it plays out.

A lifeless game of cat-and-mouse-and-jaguar.

Face it, tiger: Primal is boring.

Unfortunately, even by the relaxed standards of trash cinema, "Primal" is dispiritingly tame.

It's the sort of humdrum thriller you half-watch on TV while folding laundry; any hope that Cage might do something memorable enough to momentarily pull your attention entirely away from your socks is in vain.

I'm embarrassed to admit it, but I screamed out loud five times.

I love kitchen sink action movies like this where there’s a little bit of everything causing problems. There’s fighting, gore, guns, isolation and wild animals. It’s like Jumanji but with less family-friendly content and more grunting

Stuffed with unintentionally laugh-out-loud moments, Primal is fun as long as you don't take it too seriously.

A B-grade blast. Just to be clear, this is a bad movie, but Nicolas Cage is mesmerising.

Cage brings his patented oddball performance style along for the ride but even that isn't enough to give Primal's bland storytelling and lazy action some zip.
