I'm all for a dose of Kinnaman any day of the week, but this has all been done before. The studios really do take the general public for granted.

(Quicker review) The Informer is a 2019 crime-drama directed by Andrea Di Stefano. The film stars Joel Kinnaman as Pete Koslow and Ana de Armas as Sofia Hoffman. The acting and characters I found to be quite strong and engaging, especially Joel Kinnaman as Pete Koslow, but sadly I wouldn't say that the characters were all that memorable. The action was tense and directed well, from the various shootouts to the closeup and brutal hand to hand combat. The film I never found to be boring, but it wasn't anything that special or memorable. Over all I give it a 5/10 - see if you want

good story line but left open to the possibility of a follow up story depending how it does

on the whole thought was ok - the plots a bit over the place but it can be followed most of the time. Not one I'd sit through again mind.

Joel Kinnaman plays ex soldier Pete Koslow who is jailed after a night of violence when he protected his wife from some unwanted attention. He is offered an early chance for release by the FBI on the condition he becomes an informer for them to take down an infamous mob boss. However, when things don't go to plan and the mob boss orders Pete to take the fall for a crime he didn't commit the FBI make the decision to cut him loose leaving him in a desperate race against time to get out of prison to protect his family and take down those who have crossed him. I thought this was a really decent and intense thriller, especially the scenes in the prison where Pete finds himself without friends once the FBI burn him and reveal his identity to cover their tracks. Sure there are lots of similar stories out there and it doesn't cover particularly new ground but it was very entertaining and kept me hooked to the end.

Fantastic blood-filled almost cartoonish fun until the last ten minutes when the narrative went haywire - how did he get out of that ambulance - why did the female FBI agent finally get a conscience and come good - almost as if the director said I'm tired of all this shit; let's get out as soon as possible

An unremarkable action thriller which isn't particularly good or bad, just mediocre. It's a bit boring at times, a bit too cliché at times and a bit implausible at times, but the story is gritty, the action scenes are well put together and the acting and characters are good, if a bit 1 dimensional.
