A very bland, boring and forgettable adventure. The film is dull especially the 2nd half is way overblown in terms of logic, storytelling and tone. No doubt it resulted in the decline of Shah Rukh Khan's career.

I think the film was really really good… In the first half. I feel a little biased though as I am a huge Shah Rukh Khan fan. The romance was pretty lacking to be honest. I mean, at the end (spoilers) the girl leaves her fiancé (wait, are they married at that point? I don't remember) because Bauua goes through all that effort just to get her back. We don't get any satisfying pay off to that. Take Devdas the 2002 SRK Classic. Even though it ended with Dev dying at the end due to drink and intense sadness, it felt very satisfying because at least it wasn't left open ended. We know Paro got married and couldn't have her beloved Dev because of marriage and the extreme sadness that consumed his last dying breath. Back to Zero with another spoiler. The way it ended with him just emerging from the capsule in the ocean was not a very satisfying end. The whole second half you are rooting for him to win her back and it goes no where. The only reason I give this 4 stars is for the first half, the stellar music, phenomenal cast and how much heart you felt went into this film. You could tell it was a passion project that just happened to have not gone over well. SRK fans who followed development and behind the scenes of this film as it was filming will know the passion, heart and soul that went into making this film and hold it on a higher pedestal as a result.

A movie can be long and be entertaining. A movie can have multiple plots and be entertaining. A movie can have dubious plausibility and still be entertaining! Zero, on the other hand, did none of that. The many plots - and I do mean many - are uninteresting and flow together about as well as honey and melted cheese. The most notable thing about our lead (besides his short stature and unwillingness to be a likable character) is that he can move stars around in the sky by counting down and waving his finger, which we are supposed to simply take at face value. Everything is horribly contrived, but I would be able to look past its stupidity (and length as well) if it were at all entertaining to watch. Alas, I was squirming to get out of my seat just a third of the way through the movie. If you are looking for a fine piece of cinema, this just isn't it. You can find countless better Indian movies to watch - don't bother with this one. I found that explaining the nonsensical and seemingly endless plot to my family was far more entertaining than actually watching the movie. It really was such a drag.

Don’t read in to critics. If you search VFX of Zero. You will see comparable videos where CGI specialists are calling “Zero” a marvel movie as the special effects are out of this world to make SRK look the way he did.
