Madeline Brewer

Though she became a familiar face to the rabid fanbase of the series "Orange is the New Black" (Netflix, 2013-), some might not recognize actor Madeline Brewer in other roles. In addition to the fact that her character on the show sported a distinctive set of tight, blonde cornrows, Brewer also had a chameleon-like ability to disappear into her characters. Born in Pitman, New Jersey in 1992, Brewer was a performer from early on, even singing a song from the musical "The Wiz" to win her home town's Miss Pitman Pageant, landing her a $1,200 scholarship in 2010. Brewer used the funds to help pay her tuition at the American Academy of Musical and Dramatic Art in New York. She would find her first agent while attending the school, and booked "Orange is the New Black" soon after graduating. However, when her character's role on the show ended, Brewer found herself facing an eight-month stretch during which she couldn't seem to land a single part. She had long since returned to waitressing when she won a key role on another hit Netflix series, "Hemlock Grove" (Netflix, 2013-15). Next came an appearance on the anthology series "Black Mirror" (Channel 4, 2011- ), followed by a starring role in the drama "Hedgehog" (2017).
