She then went on to write on the first season of sci-fi sitcom "The Neighbors" (ABC, 2012-2014). Oliver continued her work in television screenwriting for the first two seasons of the LeBron James-produced comedy "Survivor's Remorse" (Starz, 2014- ). Oliver entered the world of film when "Barbershop: The Next Cut" (2016) was released; she co-wrote the script with "Black-ish" (ABC, 2014- ) creator Kenya Barris. She reunited with Barris and "Barbershop: The Next Cut" director Malcom D. Lee on "Girls Trip" (2017), which she also co-wrote with Barris.
